BEST FRIENDS FOREVER
the first time i saw BFF was when i was on tour with my side project, CAPTAIN CHAOS. we played a show at arise book shop in MNPLS and afterwards i went to a bar called the hexagon to see them. i had never heard them but i knew about them from this all girl gang in bloomington that goes by the same name. the b-town gang is a hard as fuck bunch of wild women and i didn't really know how far to trust their taste in music but in this case it was beyond anything i could have imagined. i watched them with awe. it was so great. i wanted to run up to them right after their set and offer them pizzas and cakes and smoothies and beg them to let me release some sort of recording of theirs but i didn't. i knew i should wait. I had to know more about them. i had to make sure they were cool and nice and the kind of people i wanted to work for. so for the next year or so i wore out their demo CDR and i put that ABE LINCOLN song on just about every mix i made for anyone. then i invited them to play PLAN-IT-X fest in 2006 and that was enough for me. I asked, they said yes. it took a while but they eventually recorded a perfect album for PIX and everyday i wake up and thank the gods of punk (kidding) for letting me be involved in the beautiful art of these people. do you see what i am trying to say? i love this band and i think they are genius.
