Spoonboy

i met SPOONBOY (aka david combs) though the mail. he wrote me a nice letter and said he wanted to check out my band because a friend of his told him that his band sounded a lot like my band, OPERATION: CLIFF CLAVIN. he sent me a demo and i sent him something from my then current, and only, band, THE DEVIL IS ELECTRIC. we agreed that his band, THE MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE should play with us the next time we play in DC and it happened. We stayed in touch and became friends and as i do with all people that i think are cool, i invited him to come visit bloomington anytime and stay at my house. not too many people take me up on this offer but he did. he stayed for week and when it was time to leave i offered him (asked him to please come and take) a spot on our up coming tour, with THIS BIKE IS A PIPE BOMB, as our roadie. He changed his summer plans and came along and we became very good friends. Later, he moved to bloomington and then into a house with me and MATTY POP CHART called the house of 1,000 daggers and i released his solo album because i love his songs. He's back in DC now and SPOONBOY (the band) is on hiatus but his other band, THE MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE is still going strong.

He also has played guitar and keyboards and sang in the now-defunct Lava Lava, a DC based acoustic/techno duo between him and Amina Althea.

Spoonboy was born in Takoma Park, Maryland. I am pretty happy he was born. I love him.
